What is the Canfit™ Lower Extremity Orthotics Design software?

Create customized lower extremity orthotics devices, including knee braces, AFOs (Ankle Foot Orthotics), and KAFOs (Knee Ankle Foot Orthotics), as well as Standing Shells, quickly and easily with the Canfit™ Lower Extremity Orthotics Design Software.



Earlier versions of this product were limited to designing AFOs and KAFOs with flat plantar surfaces. The latest design software incorporates flexible-axis capabilities. This allows much more powerful modifications to be performed on the plantar surface of the foot, as well as around the foot and ankle.

How does the Canfit™ Lower Extremity Orthotics Design software work?

  • Measurement data is taken - Clinician records circumferential, width, depth and height measurements at specific levels on the lower limb. Digital photos of the patient's limb can also be used.
  • Library shape is selected - Select a library shape from the list of shapes provided.
  • Measurement data is entered into the design program - Generate a fully modified lower extremity orthotics device based on the library shape selected.
  • Shape is carved - Your shape can be carved "as is", or further changed via interactive on-screen modification using the extensive and powerful Canfit™ suite of design tools.

What do I need to get started with Canfit™ Lower Extremity Orthotics Design software?

The Canfit™ Lower Extremity Orthotics Design software can easily be used in conjunction with a central fabrication facility and an associated carver.

Libraries - Use our existing libraries or develop and integrate your own

Libraries of lower extremity orthotics shapes are available for various clinical requirements, including knee braces, AFOs, KAFOs, and Standing Shells. You may choose to purchase existing library shapes and/or supply your own library shapes to Vorum Research Corporation for inclusion in a customer-specific digital library.

Alternatively, if you have a digitizer (a device that converts 3D shapes into digital signals that can be read by your computer) and P&O Design software, you can digitize your plaster positives or negatives and develop a custom library of shapes yourself. You can also modify existing library shapes and add them to the library.
