What is the Canfit™ AK Design software?

Transfemoral sockets can be designed in a matter of minutes with the Canfit™ AK Software. Created specifically for the prosthetics field, this CAD program is extremely easy and economical to operate. Measurement based data entry is supported by a wide variety of socket styles: three quadrilateral brims (conventional, geriatric, and modified conventional), and an ischial containment brim. Vorum will also create custom libraries (custom shapes) for customers, based on their own brim shapes and clinical preferences.

How does the Canfit™ AK Design software work?

  • Socket data is obtained - by taking a series of circumferential and length measurements.
  • Measurement data is entered into the design program - which generates a fully modified AK socket and displays it on the screen.
  • Shape is carved - The above knee shape can be carved "as is", or further changed via interactive on-screen modification using the extensive and powerful Canfit™ suite of design tools.

What do I need to get started with the Canfit™ AK Design software?

The Canfit™ AK Design may easily be used in conjunction with a central fabrication facility and an associated carver.

Advantages of the Canfit™ AK Design software

  • Fast - Much faster than casting and digitizing techniques
  • Consistent - Produces a high quality AK socket every time. The result is more consistent than typically achieved with manual methods.
  • Low Cost - Time is money - saves time by eliminating plaster use and enabling you to spend more time with patients and/or take on a greater volume of patients per day.
  • Fit - Use the carving to produce a check socket. The check socket is fitted to the patient and adjusted with a heat gun which softens the plastic and allows the clinician to manually make small adjustments. Once the check socket is adjusted it is filled with plaster in order to make the final product.
  • Clean, No Plaster - Eliminate the use of plaster. No cast is required: it eliminates the need for plaster in generating the check socket.
  • No Digitizing Necessary - Use of stored socket styles eliminates the need for digitizing, saving valuable time and money.
